Little is known about the origins of this Victorian marionette. He was one of seven figures purchased at London’s Caledonian Market by Jan Bussell, adding to the collection that informed the early development of the Hogarth Puppets and Bussell’s wider work as a collector, performer and historian of British puppetry.
