The 1966 celebrations in Hastings marked the 900th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings, a major national commemoration that included a week‑long festival, a large‑scale historical re‑enactment involving hundreds of participants, and the Guild’s annual festival and exhibition. Supported by the Corporation of Hastings and the Arts Council of Great Britain, the event brought together many of the Guild’s leading puppeteers and showcased a substantial exhibition within the White Rock Pavilion, opposite the pier on the seafront.
