In August 1926, the Guild held its second exhibition at the Faculty Gallery in London. As part of the event, Harry Whanslaw and Waldo Lanchester presented a performance of the Webbs’ play Robin Hood and the Merry Men of Sherwood Forest, using enlarged versions of the original toy‑theatre figures to suit a larger stage. A report in The Orbit the following month said;
“The performance of Robin Hood and his Merry Men was given with its necessary accompaniment of music, cheers, battle noises and flaming castle and then visitors were shown behind the curtain to see how Mr Webbs scenes were hung, how Mr Whanslaw’s enlargements of the original characters were sorted out, how Mr Lanchester produced his lighting and how Miss Stanhope mingled it all with music”.
